The Benji Project earns highest praise | Letter to the editor

The staff at OCEAN, Port Townsend School District’s alternative learning program, wish to extend a deep appreciation and sincere thank you to the Benji Project.

The Benji Project is a local, nonprofit organization offering stress management and resiliency training to teens through mindfulness and self-compassion.

In a time when teens feel isolated and overwhelmed with the world around them, the Benji Project reached out and listened. They offered our health class students an eight-week program and provided tools for reflection and helped us remember to find joy, even in the tiny moments of our lives.

Not only did the Benji Project write grants to cover the costs of this program, they provided a phenomenal and fully trained instructor to lead the course. Special shout out to Heather McCrae-Wolf! Many thanks.

We thank you for your support of youth in our community! You made a world that feels tired and dark at times feel a little brighter. And you gave us tools to help ourselves move forward through challenges that may lay ahead.
