Tax-Aide seeks volunteers

AARP’s Tax-Aide program is looking for new volunteers to prepare federal income tax returns for the upcoming tax season. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome, according to a press release.

Tax-Aide volunteers provide free tax return preparation and electronic filing for low- and middle-income members of the community. Training begins in December, using training materials and software provided by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Volunteers must attend training classes in Sequim and pass IRS tests before assisting taxpayers during the tax season, according to a press release.

Those who have basic computer skills and enjoy helping others are welcome to apply. Tax-Aide is also looking for new volunteers to act as “client facilitators.” These volunteers act as receptionists at the Tax-Aide sites, and are not required to be trained or IRS-tested in tax preparation.
