Stabbing suspect knifes himself

A man was arrested Sunday, Sept. 10 for stabbing his wife in the neck the day before. A passerby found her and called in the domestic violence incident. At the arrest Sunday, he stabbed himself, too.
The suspect, 42 was reported to have been seen in the 8600 block of State Route 20 near Seton Road, close to city limits.

The Port Townsend Police assisted the Sheriff by establishing a perimeter. K-9 units were also called in.

When the man saw officers arrive, he ran into thick brush along the highway.

The man, armed, refused commands from the law enforcement present.

When deputies fired 40mm foam rounds at the man to get him to drop the knife, he began to stab himself in the neck and throat. Officer Kamal Sharif was the last to arrive on the scene. He witnessed the man injure himself.

Tasers were deployed to stop him.

Once the knife was safely removed from his possession, Sharif applied pressure on the man’s neck wounds until units with East Jefferson Fire Rescue arrived and transported him to the hospital.
“He saved the man’s life,” said Deputy Chief Jeff Thaxton.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Washington State Patrol.
