Following a captivating campaign that saw the East Jefferson Rivals cross country teams blaze through their competition, and earn podiums at the state championships, six Rivals runners were awarded Nisqually All-League spots for their efforts.

Also earning an All-League accolade was EJ Head Coach Alice Fraser, who won Girls Coach of the Year in the Nisqually League.

On the boys team’s side, senior Sebastian Manza and sophomore Soare Johnston each earned spots on the First Team list.

For the girls, junior Fiona Fraser, senior Camryn Hines, and junior Sylvia Butterfield were awarded First Team placements for the All-League list. EJ junior Tadu Dollarhide made the Second Team list.

Throughout 2022, the Rivals cross country teams had dominant displays in league competitions, the district championships, and State.

The EJ athletes rounded out their season in November at State, with the girls placing sixth out of 15 teams and the boys ending in 12th out of 16 squads.

Reacting to the accolades, EJ Head Coach Alice Fraser said: “The girls worked hard all season and it is great to be able to see their (and my) efforts pay off.”

“I am definitely pleased with the recognition,” Fraser added.
