Seven new cases of COVID-19 reported in Jefferson County

Seven new cases of COVID-19 have been discovered in Jefferson County, public health officials announced Friday.

The new cases increased the total number of COVID cases in Jefferson County to 269 on Jan. 15.

Four of the cases were in Port Townsend: a male under the age of 20, two women in their 60s, and a man in his 60s.

The other three cases all came from the mid-county area: a woman in her 40s, a man in his 40s, and a woman in her 50s.

A total of seven residents were still awaiting COVID-19 test results late Friday.

Health officials also said 20 people with COVID-19 remain in isolation.

County health officials reported Jan. 12 that 208 residents in the county have recovered from COVID-19. A total of 22 residents have been hospitalized after getting the coronavirus, and two deaths in Jefferson County have been attributed to the disease. 

According to Jefferson County Public Health, a total of 16,625 tests have been administered for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, and 16,349 tests have come back negative.

Through Friday, 120 COVID cases have been found in Port Townsend residents; 123 in mid-county residents; and 26 in south county (Quilcene, Brinnon, and West Jefferson).

More females than males have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in Jefferson County; 139 females have been confirmed with the coronavirus, and 130 males.
