Seven additional COVID cases reported after weekend in Jefferson County

Seven new cases of COVID-19 were reported by public health officials Monday afternoon in Jefferson County.

Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, a total of 167 people have tested positive for the disease through Nov. 30, according to Jefferson County Public Health.

The new cases reported since the weekend involve four people from the south county area, two from mid-county, and one from Port Townsend.

In the south county area, a male and female under the age of 20, and two women in their 30s, tested positive for COVID-19. 

The mid-county cases involved a woman in her 20s and a man in his 60s.

In Port Townsend, a woman in her 20s was found to have COVID-19.

One death to the coronavirus has been linked to a Jefferson County resident. County health officials reported 93 residents in the county have recovered from COVID-19 and are no longer hospitalized.

Health officials said 14 people with active COVID-19 cases were still in isolation.

According to Jefferson County Public Health, a total of 13,116 patients have been tested for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, and 12,899 have tested negative.

Test results are still pending for 50 people.

Through Monday, 84 COVID cases have been found in Port Townsend residents; 64 in mid-county residents; and 19 in south county (Quilcene, Brinnon, and West Jefferson).

Women outnumber men in the number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Jefferson County; 87 females have tested positive through Monday, and 80 males have tested positive.
