A retired Washington State Trooper crashed his WSP Chevy minivan into Sea Change Cannabis at Discovery Bay Wednesday morning.
The crash around 7 a.m. Wednesday, June 10.
Travis Mason, the owner of Sea Change, said he arrived on scene minutes before aid crews attended to the 78-year-old man, who was taken in an ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of a head injury.
“I just got an update that he was laughing and talking,” Mason said. “So it was likely nothing too serious.”
According to Mason, the man was driving on Highway 101 near Discovery Bay when he started to feel dizzy. He tried to pull over, but ran into the boulder in front of Sea Change, which is a small building. The force of the crash pushed the boulder against the building.
“It’s minimally visible,” Mason said. “But it pushed the building quite a bit, and it’s compromised.”
Mason doesn’t know how much it will cost to repair any damages yet. Right now, he is working with the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board to find out what to do with all of his products.
“I’m supposed to keep all the products on the premises,” he said. “But since it has been compromised, I’m not sure what to do.”
The store will be closed until further notice, Mason said.
