Port Townsend Police Log | Swinging a lawn chair

Port Townsend police received 156 total calls for service from Monday, Sept. 21 through Sunday, Sept. 27. Below are selected reports. 

At 9:25 a.m. Sept. 21, police received a report of a vehicle prowl that had occurred overnight in the 300 block of 24th Street. The caller reported that they had lost a cell phone in the incident. 

The victim was able to track the phone through an app to the area of Four Corners Road. An officer arrived in the area, but couldn’t locate the exact address of the phone’s location.

At 1:46 p.m. Sept. 21, a caller reported a graffiti in-progress at the “Welcome to Port Townsend sign.” The subject was seen walking up Discovery Road, got into a vehicle left the scene. The graffiti said “Justice Patriot Front now.”

At 12:25 p.m. Sept. 22, police received reports of an individual in the 900 block of Sheridan Street who had attempted to slash the caller’s tire while she was in the dentist’s office. The caller believed that the vandalism was related to her work on a Republican gubernatorial campaign.

At 1:45 p.m. Sept. 22, a caller reported that they had found several syringes in a bush at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. 

At 6:38 p.m. Sept. 22, officers received a report of an incident in the 1400 block of Sims Way, in which money was taken off a Buddha figure at the counter of a business. 

The suspect, described as a man wearing kneepads and a dress, walked out of the store. An officer made contact with the individual but was unable to determine if any money had been taken. The individual was trespassed from the business.

At 10 p.m. Sept. 22, officers received a report of a man on a bike wearing a hat harassing employees at a business in the 500 block of Sheridan Street. Officers made contact with a man who claimed one of the construction workers had yelled something at him. 

When he approached to see why, he said one employee had swung a lawn chair at him. 

A worker at the scene admitted he had swung the chair because he was being accosted by the subject for no reason. 

Officers believed the contact to be related to mental health. The man told the officer at the scene he had found a laptop near a grocery store. 

The man was trespassed from the store for the night.
