The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 124 calls between Friday, Feb. 10, and Thursday, Feb. 16. Below are selected reports.

At 12:55 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, a construction site in the 1800 block of Sherman Street was broken into and vandalized.

Somebody entered the property overnight and took lumber and vandalized the site with spray paint. Theft and vandalism at the property have been an ongoing issue.

At 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, a traffic complaint was reported in the 200 block of Adams Street after a vehicle went the wrong way down a one-way street.

Another driver honked at the wrong-way driver, who responded by following the other driver until the person parked at a nearby location. The wrong-way driver then threatened to assault the other driver.

The wrong-way driver left the area before law enforcement arrived, but the officers collected the other driver’s story.

At 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, malicious mischief was reported in the 1100 block of 14th Street after a resident reported an unknown suspect jumping her fence and smashing a bird feeder.

The crime occurred overnight, and officers contacted the resident in the morning. After observing the bird feeder and other clues, the officers determined that a raccoon or some other critter likely was the culprit behind the broken bird feeder.

At 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, in the 100 block of Taylor Street, a group of teens were reported after they took a pipe from the old docks in the area.

The group of adolescents climbed a fence, took a rusty pipe from the old dock, put the pipe in the trunk of a car, and left the area in the vehicle. The teens were driving on Water Street and were followed by the reporting party.

The teens drove to Highway 20 and stopped near the airport. Officers found the car and teens and investigated. The adolescents told the officers they’d taken the old metal pipe, which appeared to have no value, to practice up-cycling and reusing old items for new purposes.

The officers advised the teens not to trespass on the docks in the future due to the unsafe conditions of the docks.

At 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, an unwanted person was reported in the 800 block of Sheridan Street after refusing to leave the hospital.

Hospital security requested law enforcement, and the man said he was waiting for someone to pick him up. Officers spoke with the man and discovered he had an arrest warrant. The man was arrested and booked into jail.

At 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in the 300 block of Jefferson Street, a woman ran into an office and began screaming about Joe Biden.

She was holding two water bottles in her hands and didn’t cause any damage to the office, eventually leaving and sitting on a bench outside the property. Officers spoke with the woman, who refused to provide her name, and she appeared to be dealing with mental health issues.

Police also spoke with employees at the office who said this was the third time the woman had entered the building and began yelling about random topics. The employees wanted the incident to be documented.
