East Jefferson Fire-Rescue Marine 1-6 assisted Port Ludlow Fire and Rescue with a pleasure craft fire at the Port Ludlow Marina at approximately 8:40 a.m. on April 29.

According to the EJFR Facebook page, “Due to the timely deployment of resources and aggressive firefighting, damage to the vessel was minimized.”

Port Ludlow Fire Chief Brad Martin estimated 20 personnel were involved, not only from the Port Ludlow and East Jefferson agencies, but also from Quilcene Fire Rescue and Navy Region Northwest Engine 91.

When asked about the cause of the fire, Martin said. “It appears to be related to an electrical dehumidifier,” although he noted this was a preliminary determination of cause.

Likewise, when speaking about the dollar loss to the vessel, Martin said, “I am purely speculating at the damage, but the guesstimate we’re using is $100,000.”
