Dear Editor:
The recent The Port Townsend Council meeting proved to all that the fix was in from the beginning to build houses for the wealthy (no "affordable" house could be built on such valuable land) instead of finding a way to preserve the oldest golf course in the State.
After months of work by citizens and expenditure of hundreds of thousands of dollars for outside consultants, a contingent of the Council voted at the eleventh hour to disregard all the previous input, and go for housing that had not been on the table in the prior public deliberations.
This deceptive action screams corruption that may involve collusion with certain real estate interests.
The money spent on the month's long process are dollars that came out of the pockets of the citizenry. No one in Port Townsend should stand for this shameful act by their government.
