Local ballet dancers are getting set for the 27th annual performance by Ling Hui’s dance studio, with shows at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, June 17. It will take place at Fort Worden’s Wheeler Theater.

The theme of this year’s recital is “Voyage,” which is also the title of a featured piece performed by Ling Hui’s advanced contemporary class. Student Anabel Moore described “Voyage” as a narrative about “exploring new places, having fun, [but] with a little bit of melancholy.”

The music for this piece is a sitar arrangement by Ravi Shankar. The other selections for this recital are eclectic, including classical standards from Tchaikovsky, Debussy, and Saint-Saëns alongside recordings by Stephanie Lapointe, Steve Jablonsky, and Orange Blossom.

Ling Hui teaches ballet and contemporary dance for beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels, ages 4 through adult.

Tickets for “Voyage” will be available in advance at the Port Townsend Food Co-op. They may also be purchased on the day of the show. Admission is $20/adult, $15/student, and is free for children ages 6 and under.
