Port Townsend Indivisible will host a demonstration Friday to mark Jan. 6.
“Defending Our Democracy” is the theme and the gathering will be held at the triangle of the East Sims Way and Kearney Street intersection from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 6.
Organizers said the event commemorates the survival of the democratic government despite the attempted insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
People are invited to attend the “light brigade” by bringing battery-powered camp lights and string lights. Signs celebrating democracy are also welcome.
Port Townsend Indivisible is organizing this demonstration in conjunction with the national Indivisible organization’s activities marking Jan. 6.
