The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 245 calls for service between Saturday, March 11 and Friday, March 17. Below are selected reports.

At 9:01 a.m. Friday, March 17 in Brinnon, a resident reported a case of fraud.

The caller had been a victim of identity theft in 2020, and recently discovered his credit score was dropping 10 points every month.

He said he had gotten a letter from AT&T said said he owned the company $1,153 for unpaid telephone service in 2020. The man was adamant that he did not use AT&T and didn’t owe anything to the company.

The man said he received a letter from a collection agency, but the contact information was the same as the notice from AT&T.

The man said he did further research online and determined the letters were fraudulent.

He had not sent any money or shared any financial information.

The man was advised to contact his bank and set up a fraud alert.

At 9:59 a.m. Friday, March 17 in Brinnon, a man reported a burglary into a detached shed.

The shed contained garden tools and was not locked.

The man’s daughter said she had put all of her things in the shed before she left for treatment, but items now missing from shed included six chainsaws (four Stihls, an Echo-brand saw, and a Husqvarna), a green Harbor Freight welder, an Xbull 3,700-pound winch, and several DeWalt tools and batteries. She said the tools were not insured.

The daughter said she had fastened the shed door closed with wood screws, and didn’t know how the burglar had gotten inside. She suspects the intruder took out the screws then put them back in. The daughter also said she had video surveillance of the property, but it only works when the generator is on.

The woman also said she had hung out with several “shady people” in her past but is now trying to turn her life around.

At 3:54 p.m. Friday, March 17 in Quilcene, a woman said three other women were harassing her verbally.

She said they also took $30 from her bank account telepathically.

The woman said she is also being harassed telepathically.

The caller has a history of mental health issues.

At 5:06 p.m. Friday, March 17 in Port Townsend, a woman said she was bitten by a dog.

The woman, an Amazon worker, said she was bleeding but had a first-aid kit in her truck.

A deputy contacted the dog’s owner.
