The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 351 calls for service between Friday, July 7 and Friday, July 14. Below are selected reports.

At 10:33 p.m. Saturday, July 8 in Port Ludlow, an employee with a security alarm company notified authorities of a burglary after seeing video footage of someone inside a house. The intruder was last seen upstairs in the home. According to the homeowner, the person may be a neighbor, but the person did not have a reason to be in the residence.

A deputy arrived and found the house was locked.

The security company worker later said he thought he made a mistake and pulled up a previous video recording from inside the home.

The burglary report was deemed unfounded.

At 12:05 p.m. Sunday, July 9 in Port Hadlock, a resident reported a hacker on his computer. The man said he the hacker was on hold on his telephone.

The man said he had been on his computer when a banner flashed on his screen and told him he had a virus. The man called the phone number on the banner, and the person who answered the call asked for a credit card number.

The man shared his credit card information, but then suspected it was a scam and had the card canceled.

No money was reported lost from the transaction.

At 7:46 p.m. Sunday, July 9 in Quilcene, a caller reported a case of littering.

Someone left a pile of “free stuff” at the end of Carl Johnson Road.

There are no suspects.

At 9:35 a.m. Monday, July 10 in Port Hadlock, a man known to have mental health issues entered the veterinarian clinic and made a scene. The clinic wanted the man trespassed from the facility.

The man came in and started asking questions about his four cats, and told a deputy he thought the desk clerk was being derogatory.

He was given a trespass warning.

At 9:35 a.m. Monday, July 10 in Port Hadlock, a caller reported a burglary at a business that happened the night before.

A mini-fridge was taken from the building.

There were no signs of forced entry. A former employee is a person of interest in the case.

At 1:21 p.m. Monday, July 10 in Quilcene, a boat and trailer were reported stolen.

The boat was described as a 16-foot Bayliner and had been left in the caller’s driveway. The caller said the boat and trailer were not registered in his name.

There are no suspects.

At 8:07 p.m. Monday, July 10 in Chimacum, a woman said her son had threatened to shoot pigs on her farm that had gotten loose.

The woman said her son owned the property, and that he had locked her out and cut off access to water for the animals.

She said her son had called and said her pigs were loose and he was going to shoot them in 10 minutes. The woman was concerned because she said it would take her 20 minutes to get to the farm.

The son said his mother’s pigs had been getting out and wandering around, and that he had been getting complaints.

Law enforcement determined the dispute was civil in nature.

At 10:54 p.m. Monday, July 10 in Port Hadlock, a woman called and whispered that someone was in her house. It sounded like the intruder was in the kitchen.

Then, she said she heard someone outside. She thought the person might be an ex-boyfriend.

A deputy arrived and found the man. He said he had been outside to place a cat trap.

The deputy found no signs of forced entry into the home, and the man said he had not gone inside.

The woman who alerted authorities appeared to be intoxicated.

At 12:51 a.m. Tuesday, July 11 in Port Ludlow, a caller reported an ongoing issue of mail theft near Falcon Lane.

At 2:25 p.m. Tuesday, July 11 in Port Hadlock, a caller wanted someone in the parking lot trespassed from the property. The unwanted person had gotten in a fight with a contractor.

A deputy arrived and found the incident had happened two weeks earlier, when a man renting a storage unit had gotten into a disagreement with a locksmith who had been called to change the locks.

The man complained that he could not get into his unit to retrieve his methamphetamine and related paraphernalia, but when the person at the storage place offered to let him get his belongings, he refused.

The woman was advised the man was actually a tenant and could not be trespassed from the property.

At 3:22 p.m. Tuesday, July 11 in Quilcene, authorities were contacted about a person in a black, four-door vehicle who was on the property and was using the WiFi.

The person was asked to leave but didn’t.

A deputy contacted the person and gave him a trespass warning.

At 4:21 a.m. Thursday, July 13 in Quilcene, the back end of a 2007 Prius was torn apart by someone who had stolen the vehicle’s battery.

The owner of the vehicle had parked it at a location known for criminal activity, but returned to find someone had entered the car and taken the battery.

The vehicle was no longer working and damage was estimated at $6,000.

At 6:37 p.m. Thursday, July 13 in Port Ludlow, a caller reported an unwanted person on the premises.

The man was ask to leave but did not, and appeared to be under the influence.

The man was upset because a clerk was helping other customers instead of him.

A deputy was told the man came in with a woman and became irate when the clerk would not let him cut in front of other people in the checkout line so his female companion could buy him a vape pen.

The employee said the man called her derogatory names.

The couple departed soon after.

At 7:52 p.m. Friday, July 14, dispatchers were called for a potential search-and-rescue operation on the West End.

A man was trying to drive to Yahoo Lake, got lost, and ran out of gas.

The man had a passenger and was not prepared to spend the night in the area. He was advised to stay in place.

A West End deputy found the pair and helped them leave the area.

At 9:51 p.m. Friday, July 14 in Port Hadlock, a woman said a neighbor had told her that someone was squatting on her property.

She said her tenant was out of town, and she discovered other neighbors were camping in the back yard.

It was possible the people had permission from the tenant to be there, but the tenant could not be reached.
