JeffCo Historical Society will host auction to benefit education programs

The Jefferson County Historical Society’s silent auction to benefit education programs kicks off with toasts and special guests at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29.

Given the recent gubernatorial mandate that again closed museums, executive director Shelly Leavens said the auction is more critical than ever.

“That makes our end-of-year fundraising efforts all the more imperative for our continuance of virtual programs through the winter and early spring, as we have decided to stay closed through March 2021,” she said.

Hosted via the Zoom videoconference platform, the “AHA! Auction” will close at noon Sunday, Dec. 6, with funds raised going to support youth and adult education programs in the arts, history, and humanities.

“Let’s share our passion for Jefferson County arts and history and honor all the people who have and continue to call this place home through time,” organizers said.

Items up for bid this year include works of art, adventures in maritime heritage, local studio tours, a private screening at the Rose Theatre, and a weekend getaway at Kalaloch Lodge, among many others.
