The Jefferson County Anti-Racist Fund has started a GoFundMe with the goal of raising $2,600 to support the local BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) community through mutual aid and food supplies.
The anti-racist fund supplies more than 20 local families with community-supported agriculture boxes filled with produce, meat, dairy, flowers, baked goods, herbal remedies, and more.
With the demand for the food program increasing, the organization is asking for support to feed more families this summer.
“Building resilient, accessible, local food systems that support Black, Indigenous, and People of Color is part of our reparations work,” organizers wrote on GoFundMe. “This project is growing! We need additional funds to keep up with expenses and to bring fresh, local food to more community members.”
As of Monday morning, the Jefferson County Anti-Racist Fund has raised $549 of its $2,600 goal.
The weekly produce boxes come from a variety of local businesses and nonprofits in the area including: Goosefoot Community Fund, Finnriver Farm & Cidery, Kodama Farm & Food Forest, Space Twins Provisions, Hopscotch Farm and Cannery, Red Dog Farm, Second Growth Herb Collective, Mystery Bay Creamery, and Pan d’Amore.
