A countywide land-clearing burn ban will start July 1 and run through Sept. 30, officials with East Jefferson Fire Rescue have announced.
The burn ban will be in effect for all land-clearing burns within Jefferson County, and officials said the prohibition is “in the best interest and safety of the public.”
The burn ban does not apply to recreational fires, which include outdoor fireplaces, barbecue grills and barbecue pits.
The halt to land-clearing fires was supported by fire chiefs in East Jefferson County and the Jefferson County Fire Marshal.
