The Port Ludlow Art League sponsors a variety of services in support of the community of Port Ludlow. In addition to classes and other monthly artist gatherings, the organization offers a helpful website referencing wider opportunities for artists, and manages numerous rotating exhibits throughout the community.
It takes an eight-person board of directors and many additional volunteers to keep all those programs up and running.
Each of those volunteers is also an artist, and during the month of January their own works will be displayed as part of the Artist of the Month exhibit in the Sound Community Bank. Also on display at both the bank and the Art League Gallery next door will be the striking Asian-themed designs of Jeweler of the Month Mary Lynn Laker. An opening reception for both exhibits will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, in the lobby of the bank and 5 to 6 p.m. at the adjacent Port Ludlow Art League Gallery.
In addition, the work on display at the Port Ludlow Bay Club’s art exhibit, Metallic Touches, will feature artwork created with metal, wire, beads, metallic paint, ink, or leaf. Be sure to stop by and vote for your favorites.
Talented volunteers assisting the Port Ludlow Art League include Alan Ahtow, Laura Axiotis, Fran Bodman, Shirley Bomgaars, Larry Davidson, Sheryl Goldsberry, Janice Gruber, Jeanne Joseph, Georganne Muse, Pamela Raine, Christine Spagle and Cathy Thomas.
Other Art League displays in January include: Works by Pamela Raine at Active Life Physical Therapy; Sheryl Goldsberry at Coldwell Banker Best Homes; and Ann Arscott in the Bay Club Lobby.
The Sound Community Bank and the Art League Gallery are located at the corner of Oak Bay Road and Osprey Ridge Drive in Port Ludlow. The gallery is open Tuesdays through Fridays, noon to 4 p.m. For more information visit www.portludlowart.org.
