Writing a blog is tough, when the traditional dirty tricks, pandering of short-term public memory, outright lies and general deceit are employed by the likes of Donald Trump and his Republican followers. The mess that is the world-wide coronavirus pandemic currently has the U.S. leading the world in deaths. But these appear to be just 26,000-plus (confirmed) faceless entities t0 Donald, who is eager to risk a relapse of the deadly virus.

As I read it this morning (western time) confirmed cases in the U.S. were, with deaths were 610,774 with 26,119 deaths confirmed as related to the disease. Washington State was at 10,886 known cases, with 546 known deaths. All will have increased markedly by the time you read this.

Putting my faith in science and my test in reality, I consider it ridiculous for
Donald to try relaxing social distancing and other restrictions to “bring back”
a portion of our financial society—especially in the two short weeks until May 1.

I am not in the least interested in giving him one of my children in exchange for bragging rights prior to the 2020 election.

Meanwhile, the president of the United States does not have the “absolute power” Donald Trump claimed he possesses (during Monday’s briefing). And one wonders if he’s ever bothered to even read the U.S. Constitution. It was carefully crafted by our forefathers to prevent the rule of a king, which is what led to its creation in the first place.

Take, for instance, the 10th Amendment, which provides “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

As explained in Wikipedia, The Tenth Amendment. which is part of the Bill of Rights, was ratified on Dec. 15, 1791. It expresses the principle of federalism and states' rights, which strictly supports the entire plan of the original Constitution for the United States of America, by stating that the federal government possesses only those powers delegated to it by the United States Constitution. All remaining powers are reserved for the states or the people.

Personally, I’ve felt right along that Trump has dragged his feet on testing to hold down the numbers of actual severity of the coronavirus in various places at various times. Death files also are not accurate as tests have not been utilized pre- or postmortem. As announced Tuesday, U.S. coronavirus deaths have gone some 60% under-reported. So in a small-town area such as ours, if we are retuned to “normalcy” we will be looking at added deaths of undetermined number in Washington State and throughout the U.S.

In whatever case, for us older people (try 90s) relaxing the battle against the disease remains pretty much a human sacrifice to the grandeur of Donald Trump—which I find to be.a nauseating thought. He also has announced plans to take major funding from the World Health Organization—which he was lauding, along with the Chinese government, during te early stages of the disease’s spread. It didn’t do enough to deal with the virus during its early stages Trump now says. Remind you of anyone?

Apparently through some eyes, the American president has done no wrong no matter how he did or didn’t move. And when he screws things up at this point in his quest for personal accolades, he can always blame science, Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, anyone else female, Democrats in general . . .

On April 2, the U.S. Secret Service signed an “emergency order” to rent $45,000 worth of golf carts in Sterling, Va., where the president owns a favorite course. The president obviously is planning to resume golf soon. The cart fleet is being rented through the end of September at Virginia’s Trump National Golf Club which he has visited 76 times since taking office. It has remained open during the pandemic, although he has not played golf since March 8.
